Getting to Newcastle

Getting to Newcastle is easy. The city is the hub of the Hunter Valley, one of Australia's most attractive holiday and tourism destinations. Newcastle is only 2 hours north of Sydney and has road, rail and air access.

By Road

The main access from Sydney is via the F3 Freeway. The journey takes approximately two hours. Take the Newcastle exit and it will take you all the way into the CBD. Other major routes are the coastal Pacific Highway and the inland New England Highway from Brisbane. The Golden Highway provides easy access from Western NSW.

By Train

Transport from Sydney to Newcastle is readily available by train. (Newcastle Station is a five-minute walk from The Centenary Centre while Civic Station is just around the corner. Trains can be boarded at both the International and Domestic Airports in Sydney via Central Station and will take approximately 2.5 hours to get to Newcastle. There are many frequent return services daily on the cityrail network out of Sydney. Timetables are available at http://www.cityrail.info. There are also fast Countrylink trains which connect Newcastle to Sydney, Brisbane and other country centres..

By Air

Newcastle Airport (Williamtown)is the major regional airport and is located 30 minutes from Newcastle city centre. The airport is served by  several airlines and has daily flights to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra as well as some regional NSW centres.

By Bus

Newcastleis serviced by coach companies throughout Australia. Connections to and from various locations are provided on a regular basis.

International Visitors

International Visitors need to take a domestic flight to Newcastle from their port of entry into Australia. Alternatively you can take the train to Newcastle (Newcastle Station is a five-minute walk ) or hire a car.
